Val Hollis – Bequests Liaison Officer

Val HollisVal joined the SPCA as a volunteer in the nursery 5 years ago.  From there,  she did a stint as Receptionist and then became the “relief manager” , filling in at all the retail outlets, when needed.  Two and a half years ago, she was appointed as Bequest Liaison Officer for the SPCA and is instrumental in assisting the public and our members with all things related to their wills, donations to the society and  their bequests.

Patience Sokhela

Patience SokhelaPatience has been employed by the uMngeni SPCA for 2 and a half years and is a kennel cleaner. Her duties involve the upkeep of all kennels, and maintaining a high level of hygiene in these areas at all times.

Rita Sosibo

Rita SosiboRita is our kennel cleaner and has been with the organization for 9 months. Her role in maintaining the kennels, and keeping a high level of hygiene in these areas, is very important.

Dingani Tshabalala

Dingani TshabalalaDingani is one of our Kennel Attendants and assists with strays and the cats that are up for adoption. He has been a member of the team for 6 years and is a valued staff member.

Phineus Makhayi

Phineus MakhayiPhineus has been with us for over 4 years and is responsible for attending to the lovely gardens at the kennels. He does a good job of making the grounds look very pretty and we are proud to have him on our team.

Mxolisi Ngidi

Mxolisi NgidiMxolisi is one of our Kennel Assistants and attends to our Adoptions. He assists Jean with this. He has been with the organization for nearly a year.

Njabula Hlongwane

Njabula HlongwaneNjabula is a Receptionist and a Trainee Inspector. He helps out at the front desk with general office work and assists Jean and Linda when needed. He has been with the uMngeni SPCA for 18 months and is our friendly man who always has a smile on his face when you meet him.

Wilbert Mshengu – Clinic Assistant

Wilbert MshenguHe has been with the uMngeni SPCA for four years.   Wilbert works closely with our veterinarian and is responsible for preparing the theatre and clinic for the vet as well as assisting during consultations and surgeries.  Wilbert also ensures that all the instruments are sterile and ready for use.

Anne Smith – SPCA Plant Lady

Anne SmithAnne has been the driving force behind establishing our Gardeners’ Corner, firstly at Campbell Road and later at our Fundraising Centre in Main Street Howick.   She has been with us through thick and thin, planning, executing and running our highly successful plant nursery.   Anne not only sources plants from nurseries at very special prices, she also goes to Kloof SPCA to fetch loads of plants donated from their nursery and she also pots out slips, cuttings, divisions of huge matted plants and other material that is donated by gardeners.  Whatever else she does with her magic wand to produce the huge stock of fine plants, seedlings, shrubs and trees to sell at competitive prices I wouldn’t know but the measure of her success is in the band of loyal supporters who always look for their garden requirements at the SPCA Centre before they even think of going anywhere else.

Linda Freer – Animal Care Assistant

Linda FreerHer duties include assisting at both our veterinary clinic and at the Shelter.   She keeps fit running between the two areas and still manages to remain calm and efficient.   Linda is always cheerful and is a huge asset to our organization.
