Victoria Patrick

Victoria PatrickIn 2007 when terrible fires consumed vast areas around Howick 12 year old Victoria Patrick insisted on staying on their smallholding with her father so that she could look after her three ponies, Lollipop, Jack and Monty, and be ready to move them into the dressage arena if the fire threatened them.

It must have been terrifying for young Victoria watching the red glow of the approaching fire but she was determined to stay with her precious ponies and keep them calm and safe.   Thanks to Victoria the ponies did not panic and stood quietly until the danger was over.

Victoria is seen here receiving an award for her courage and commitment to her ponies from Mrs Rae Botha, then Chairperson of the uMngeni SPCA.

Lots of people talk to animals.... Not very many listen, though.... That's the problem. ~Benjamin Hoff, The Tao of Pooh

We support ONLY the circuses that DO NOT use animals of any kind to entertain the crowds. The use of wild animals in Circus acts is inhumane
